Hi there! My name is Cristy Sorrow, owner and founder of Bon Appa Sweet, LLC.

My passion for baking developed out of helping my mom prepare holiday desserts. Everything was made from scratch, and as I helped, she would tell me about how she learned to bake. Her grandmother could only speak Czech, so they couldn’t understand each other, but she often helped her grandmother in the kitchen through non-verbals. It worked because my aunts still try to figure out Mom’s secrets to her recipes! (My mother will sometimes throw flour on herself to show how hard she’s slaved over her masterpieces).

Growing up in Santa Cruz, CA, one of my first jobs was at a French Pastry shop where all products were made from scratch fresh daily. I loved that job and learned so much about quality, production schedules, and really just fell in love with the jazzy Parisian vibe of a strong cup of coffee and a decent pastry. There is nothing quite like a bakery during the holidays. Everyone is so happy and excited!

During the pandemic, I began making cheesecakes and cakes for some friends. It expanded into people from the community requesting these slices of heaven, especially when they saw my pictures on social media. One day, I ran out with a piece of Eggnog Cheesecake and a plastic fork to give to our postal worker who was working overtime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. She looped back around 5 minutes later, got out of her vehicle in the middle of the road and said, “Girrllll!” Our products are so good, Rachel & Chandler would eat them off the apartment hallway floor.

How our focus shifted to include gourmet cookies: Cookies are still the number one most popular bakery item. I recently saw a post on social media about giant cookies in a New York bakery and thought Savannah residents deserved those same crumbs of finery. Then my sister caught wind of what I was doing and asked if I could ship! Why yes, we can.

As for the cakes and cheesecakes? I am in absolute heaven creating interesting flavor combinations and perfecting our techniques. Contact us to see what we can offer you for your special event!

You will love each of our products. Our imagination runs wild with flavor combinations, and we only use quality ingredients. Also, our items are made in small batches by hand. If we wouldn’t put it in our mouths, it doesn’t belong in yours!

Most importantly, we care about our customers’ experience with our products. Most people are counting calories, so we strive to make our products worth the calorie allotment! If it’s not amazing, we pull it off our menu.
